Mappa Mundi is a two-day intensive map making workshop and pop-up exhibition. Beginning with scribbles on café napkins, participants will chart, map and share stories of roads walked, favourite places, memories and moments of living in Adelaide.
You will learn how to make paper, explore book making, printing and marking techniques, there will be collage and frottage, geo-mapping and …cheese and crackers! Kid artists welcome with an adult accomplice. No experience necessary.
Robyn Finlay is an artist driven by a passion to create highly tactile and engaging work with materials she can find in her local environment, natural and manufactured. Trained as a printmaker but not restricted to any one medium, she takes inspiration from her materials including teabags, natural fibres and dyes, rust, dirt and hair. Robyn’s work often speaks of the human condition, our place in the world and how we relate to it and each other, the abject body, ageing and loss.
Claire grew up in the country in a family of theatrics, where gypsy artists and musicians grew in her backyard. She travelled, looking for adventures, breathing in the air and people she met along the way. Claire found her passion in community cultural arts development, developing multi-arts programs with children, Indigenous Australians and multi-cultural community groups in outback and urban Australia and internationally. Now, when she should be sleeping, she wakes and dreams under the light of the moon, creating books that tell stories of places and people she’s seen or imagined.
