USE by Simon Williams

Simon Williams is an Adelaide based jewellery and object maker who creates exhibition and commissioned pieces in a variety of media, including resin, precious metals and recycled materials. After graduating with Honours from the South Australian School of Art at the University of South Australia in 2005, Simon won a place in the Helpmann Mentorship Program, receiving two Design Institute of Australia awards for his ‘Adaptable Jewellery’. Being a regular exhibitor of work through Zu Design Jewellery + Objects in Adelaide, Simon has taken the opportunity to experiment with many processes and materials, from broken spectacle frames, cast resin, precious metals, fabrics and stones. In 2014, Simon founded his brand, ‘USE by Simon Williams’, producing his ‘Mineralist’ collection of cast resin jewellery, which takes inspiration from natural geological formations of ‘Pyrite’. This collection was picked up by fashion label, ‘Couture+Love+Madness’ for their Couture Collection for the 2015 Adelaide Fashion Festival, then shown in Qingdao for the Chinese International Fashion Festival. Simon has his jewellery and objects available in galleries such as Zu Design Jewellery + Objects, Jam Factory, Urban Cow Studios, Naomi Schwartz Gallery, Kin Gallery, and the Art Gallery of South Australia Shop, where he was recently commissioned to produce several large scale pieces to accompany the ‘Colours of Impressionism’ exhibition, inspired by work from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
