Matea Gluscevic is a designer-maker, for her business DONE by Matea. DONE by Matea is an ethical, slow, and sustainable handmade footwear, accessories and art object label. All items are designed and handmade by Matea Gluscevic in her studio at The Mill in Adelaide. Matea uses mostly local, recycled, end of job and low impact materials such as; cork, kangaroo leather, vegetable tanned leather and recycled rubber in the items she designs and makes. Whether its art or worn objects that she is creating, she is often inspired by nature and by materials and processes from a range of different industries. Her interests and motivations are centered around the exploration of self, connectedness to emotion and nature, sincerity, and materials and processes. Matea is a qualified shoemaker, having completed a Cert IV in Custom Made Footwear at TAFE in 2011, and a Bachelor of Visual Art Specialising in Sculpture and Installation at UniSA in 2013. Matea also briefly studied Product Design at UniSA and Dental Technology at TAFE, to gain particular skills she could not acquire through the other courses. Formerly, she was the owner and curator of Phase Space; a retail art space that unified traditional and experimental aesthetics, and a directing member of the Format Collective. Matea has also worked as a stylist and art director for a number of music videos and short films.
