Ellie Kammer (Adelaide (SA) studied oil painting under Robin Eley and life drawing under David Kassan at the Art Academy, Adelaide and was subsequently offered a mentorship by Robin Eley for one year. Ellie Kammer had her debut solo exhibition of paintings, opened by Robin Eley, in 2017 at Light Square Gallery with great success. This collection garnered international press and earned a visit from ABC’s The Mix. She exhibited again during South Australian Living Artist Festival in 2018, winning the Sala People’s Choice award. Ellie Kammer won the Myself Prize (2017) for her self-portrait ‘endometriosis (quiescence)’, also winning the people’s choice award in the Emma Hack Art Prize (2018), and the Kennedy Prize in 2019. She has been a finalist in the Wyndham Art Prize, Redland Art Awards, Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award, Kennedy Prize, Emma Hack Art Prize and a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. in 2018, Ellie Kammer was the recipient of the Richard Llewellyn Deaf and Disability Arts grant. Ellie Kammer has collaborated with celebrities Lena Dunham (prominent American Actress, writer and producer) and Caitlin Stasey (Australian actress), both female activists and artists, to open up a dialogue about body autonomy and female power.
