Tristan Kerr’s influences include typography, urban art, contemporary public artwork and the revival of the decorative arts movement of hand sign-painting. His passion for typography was sparked whilst working abroad in Switzerland and Paris, where he saw many styles influenced by cultures and ethnicities such as store-fronts for African Hair Salons or Creperies, ripped wheatpaste Metro posters to vibrant colours from graffiti. His visual artwork is a direct response to the environment, with his subject matter of mark-makings, sign-painting and torn billboards referencing street art and urban culture. Tristan works in visual communication which allows him to combine traditional design methods and a digital practice. He moves seamlessly between the two, integrating hand sign-painting and typography with digital production processes. His commissions span from hand-painted advertisements for Penfold’s Wine and urban art murals for Redbull Music Academy to illustration for Hermés, Paris. Find Tristan Kerr's CV here.
