Laura Wills

Laura Wills is a visual artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. She has an expanded approach to her practice, involving collaboration, ethics, participation and community-based projects. Wills is interested in the social context of art and ecological art projects, exploring themes such as travel, shelter, the environment, mapping and food issues. With a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Applied Design from Adelaide Centre of the Arts, she practices a diverse range of media from painting, drawing and photography to installation, media arts and community projects. A highlight for Wills has been the opportunity to create a sand drawing on Port Willunga beach as part of the public programs for the 2015 Tour Down Under. Wills says, “After months of planning and trials, with a team of workers on the day, it was a great lesson of impermanence to watch the 100m drawing wash away at the end of the day. It wasn't an object I was creating to be looked after, rather an experience to engage with and enjoy.” Representation Hill Smith Gallery
