Julie Pieda established Koush Design in 1999 with a commitment to creating elegantly resolved fit-outs for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors. Her portfolio also encompasses furniture design and both arms of the practice reflect Pieda’s keen eye for colour and texture, as well as a strong understanding of classically minimalist form. While inspiration comes from all around, she has amassed personal image and material libraries over time and references these invaluable resources when beginning a new project. Treating design as an exercise in problem solving allows Pieda to exercise her fine attention to detail, evident in the recently completed refurbishment for the St Peters library and renovation of the foyer and workspaces of South Australia’s Migration Museum. Her clean, high-end aesthetic also characterises her furniture designs, with Cranberry Jam sofa and Promenade sideboard both appealing for their sophisticated proportions and bold material palette.
