Anna Goodhind - aka Guruhuahua
I am privileged to be living and working on Kaurna Land with my partner Cameron, and our scruffy brother pups, Bowie and Dazee. In early 2020 I Iaunched my business Guruhuahua, specialising in sustainable print reproductions of my original collage artworks. I am passionate about the natural world, and view Guruhuahua as a way of learning about and connecting with the organisms which both support, and depend on our environment for their survival. Employing services and purchasing resources from suppliers dedicated to minimising their carbon footprint through the use of eco-friendly materials and production alternatives, Guruhuahua seeks to contribute towards a greener, brighter and more sustainable future. For the majority of my practice I worked as a painter, with oils as my favourite medium. When my mother became unwell and passed away in 2018, I took a break from painting, concentrating instead on paper collage as my creative focus. Recently, I have been feeling a longing to paint again, and believe myself ready to return to my paintbrush. I am excited about the potential of using my collage practice as a means of creating images to be transferred through paint onto canvas, and am currently scouting for an affordable studio space, or residency opportunities, so I can focus on my painting, away from my wonderful, but extremely distracting dogs. I work as an Installer for the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery, and the Alexandrina Council run galleries in Goolwa, and hold two casual roles at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Other than practicing my visual art, I am happiest when working in the garden, playing with our scruffy brothers, enjoying wine with friends, listening to live music, stretching out on my yoga mat and exploring the natures with my man Cam.
