Christian Hall is a designer and maker whose practice spans sculpture, jewellery, furniture and everyday objects. At the nexus of art and design, his work is characterised by its geometric form, clean lines and monochrome finish. Even the simplest of objects tell a compelling narrative of line and form. Aiming to “capture a sense of delight in people”, Hall believes in allowing the authentic communication of physicality speak for itself.
Hall was originally trained in gold and silversmithing and traditional techniques continue to inform his practice. He studied object and jewellery design at Sydney College of the Arts before obtaining a Master of Visual Arts from the University of Sydney in 2003. Since then he has worked as an independent designer in both Adelaide and Sydney, contributing to the industry through broad participation and various teaching roles. He has taught at Sydney College of the Arts, University of South Australia and Adelaide College of the Arts.
Hall has participated in national and international residencies and featured in exhibitions as widespread as China, Japan and the United Kingdom. He regularly works on private commissions, collaborative projects and the manufacture of production works for retail.
