Sue Ninham Art
Sue Ninham was born in Adelaide South Australia in 1962 and raised in Sydney and Melbourne. Sue currently lives near the coast in Adelaide with her two adult children and their kelpie dog. Sue works from her home garden studio. Her choice to live close to the ocean springs from a life-long love of open-water swimming. Coastal landscapes and swimming inspire her work as an artist. Sue holds an undergraduate degree in Illustration design, from the South Australian College of Advanced Education, achieved early in her creative career. As an early career, design-trained artist her paintings were carefully planned and crafted. This method served as a creative safety net, enabling navigation through the challenges presented by unfamiliar materials and processes. Since 2009, Sue has worked from her home studio. Through exploration of expressive, experimental techniques and processes, Sue’s work has evolved to include collage, oil on canvas, watercolour and more recently textiles. She undertook and completed a Masters of Teaching in 2017. She continues to tutor at University and TAFE, whilst working as a contracted visual arts secondary school teacher. She regularly facilitates collage and painting workshops privately and drawing workshops at the Art Gallery of South Australia for adults and school students.
