Sarah Rothe developed a love of titanium early in her jewellery training and it has remained her preferred material since. She relishes the unique qualities of this striking metal and the challenges it presents to transform into wearable collections of brooches, rings and neckpieces. Utilising titanium’s inherent strength and lightweight nature, Rothe is able to translate fine natural forms into long lasting, striking designs. Combined with titanium’s ability to form an array of shimmering colours through refraction and the use of an electrical process, she creates work in vibrant hues without the need for dyes or chemicals. Rothe’s jewellery is held in high esteem in a number of public collections, including the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and the Art Gallery of South Australia in Adelaide. In 2012, Rothe was also given the opportunity to have a brooch presented to Hillary Clinton as an official gift from South Australia. Rothe operates Sarah Rothe | jewellery & design from a store front in the historic Regent Arcade, just off Rundle Mall in the heart of Adelaide's CBD. Also stocked in store are an ever-changing collection of jewels and giftware by other talented South Australian makers and designers. When not designing and making pieces or managing Sarah Rothe | jewellery & design, Rothe can be found at JamFactory working in the role of Creative Director of the Jewellery and Metal Studio.
