CATAPULT + TARNANTHI
About the Mentorship
Guildhouse is thrilled to announce a new career development mentorship program for South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, craftspeople and designers. In partnership with TARNANTHI, this mentorship program provides a funded opportunity for an artist to work with a mentor for up to eight months, culminating in a presentation of new work as part of the TARNANTHI 2019 Festival. TARNANTHI presents the contemporary art of the oldest living culture on an unprecedented scale, in a national event held annually by the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists working in visual art, craft or design are invited to apply for this opportunity.
The selected artist will have approximately 11 months for the mentorship and the development of new work (October 2018 through to September 2019). The funded mentorship provides $5,000 funding between the mentor and mentee and the artist will have curatorial and project management support by the Guildhouse and TARNANTHI teams.
The program aims to enrich the artist’s professional and creative development through dedicated time spent with an aspirational mentor.
Artists are encouraged to think ambitiously, and are required to discuss the project with the Artistic Programs Manager or Coordinator before submitting. Call 8410 1822 or email to discuss your application with a member of the Programs team. Guildhouse can provide support to approach a mentor suited to your practice and desired mentorship outcomes.
