The Board and CEO of Guildhouse are proud to support the Uluru Statement From the Heart and its call for Voice, Treaty and Truth. We are grateful to live, work and create on what was, is and will always be Aboriginal land.
As South Australia’s peak body for visual arts, craft and design, Guildhouse has a responsibility to build awareness and advocate for an arts community that is inclusive and accessible.
Our cultural equity framework recognises that systemic change and meaningful relationships are needed to address cultural inequity and injustice. We are committed to increasing opportunities and raising the profile of First Nations creative practitioners.
In this spirit, we express our support for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in the Australian Constitution as a necessary step towards a better future for all peoples in our community.
Guildhouse respects that there are a variety of views on this topic including among First Nations peoples and supports ongoing discussion. We encourage the Guildhouse community to inform themselves about the principles of the Uluru Statement From the Heart and the upcoming referendum.
