Guildhouse Studios — Pilot Program
Guildhouse is proud to announce Guildhouse Studios, a new opportunity for South Australian artists, located within the iconic Lion Arts Precinct in the CBD!
Prominently placed within the Tarntanya / Adelaide gallery hub, two rent-free studio spaces are available as part of a pilot studio program at Guildhouse Lion Arts, in close proximity to contemporary art galleries ACE, Nexus, JamFactory and SAMSTAG. The pilot program will run for a four-month period from December 2022 until March 2023. The location offers an abundance of sunlight, two open studio spaces at 3 x 3 metre each, separate kitchen, separate bathroom, internet and 7-day access.
In addition to the studio space, the two artists will benefit from the services of experienced Guildhouse staff, with 1:1 sessions around contemporary arts practice embedded within the offering.
Due to the size and pilot programming this opportunity is not open to collectives or duo’s, only solo artists need apply.
Cost: rent-free

Residency Dates: December 2022 – 31 March 2023
The Studio spaces will be available for residency from Monday 19 December.
Eligibility:
- Be a Guildhouse financial member (the successful recipient must have Public Liability ($20,000,000) Insurance)
- Have the ability to work autonomously
- Applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), living with a disability, or part of the LGBTQI+ community are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
- Artists at all stages of their career welcome
- South Australian residents who have been living in the state for the last 12 months as a minimum
- This opportunity is not open to full time students
- People who are 18+
- Applicants will be available to host at least one open studio session
- Applicants will see the value in meeting with Guildhouse and/or industry staff for 1:1 professional advice (x 3 sessions)

- Up to 10 images or video/sound link per applicant
- Project/proposal of intention (ie what you intent to work on or towards, how often you will access the studio etc
- Proposed activity/intent over the four month studio period
Selection Panel:
Applications are considered by a selection panel composed of Guildhouse staff, a Guildhouse Artist Advisory Group member and two Lion Arts Precinct Curators.
Applications are assessed against the following criteria:
- Quality of work
- Demonstrated need for a studio space
- Artists commitment to their practice and project proposed
Site logistics:
- 3 x 3 metre square space
- Shelving separating studios
- Desk and chair in each studio
- Mediums requiring studio ventilation are ineligible due to the site restrictions
- All paint/clean up waste in external bathroom (kitchen to remain a food safe space)
- Kitchen amenities include small fridge, microwave, kettle and cutlery/crockery, small table and chairs
- Please note this is a shared space
- 24 hour access /alarmed site
- Heating / cooling provided
- Hanging picture rails installed in the space
