This practical two-day workshop will introduce participants to creative hand-bookbinding for artists. A variety of techniques will be taught, including pamphlet stitching, concertina folding, open-spine binding and making book covers.
Participants will be able to complete at least three different books. How to generate and apply content will be explored, using collage, stitching and other effective techniques.
The workshop is aimed at developing a creative, personal approach, based on traditional hand-bookbinding and paper construction methods. Examples will be shown and handouts with detailed instructions will be provided to each participant.
Materials: A small materials list will be sent out closer to the date, nothing expensive. Basic materials and tools for the workshop will be provided.
The workshop will be held over two Saturdays.
