You are invited to join us for the launch of Michelle Kelly’s Collections Project at the Museum of Economic Botany with guest speaker, Catherine Truman.
Mycology – the study of fungi, is the inspiration for Michelle’s work, consisting of jewellery, sculptures and installations made using traditional metalsmithing techniques and a variety of materials. Exploring size, form, colour and moment, her practice consists of multiple layers, just like the growth of fungi.
As part of The Collections with the Botanic Gardens of South Australia, Michelle has developed a new body of work in response to the State Herbarium’s amazing collection of preserved species of fungi, which span decades of collecting, identifying, preserving, documenting and mapping fungi from South Australia.
Michelle’s work will be on display at the Museum of Economic Botany until 24 September 2017.
