Deidre But-Husaim is the first Collections Project participant at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Her work explores people looking at and experiencing art. In this series of paintings she has interpreted our brief encounters with works on display.
Rae O’Connell, Executive Director Guildhouse noted that this is a valuable partnership with the gallery as it opens up a new and diverse audience for our members. Robert Reason, Curator of European & Australian Decorative Arts, Art Gallery of South Australia launched this exhibition of new paintings on Sunday followed by an artist talk by Deidre But-Husaim.
The Collections Project is a collaborative project between Guildhouse and the Art Gallery of South Australia. It provides South Australian artists the chance to work with the Gallery’s collection, inviting fresh interpretations, developing new audiences for art and providing professional opportunities for artists.
