Call Out: North Adelaide Village Mural Commission, Expression of Interest

Guildhouse has been engaged by the City of Adelaide to deliver a new public mural by a South Australian artist on the exterior north wall of North Adelaide Village. This wall is situated at the corner of O’Connell Street and Chapel Street in North Adelaide.

The purpose of the mural is to activate the area with a vibrant and exciting creative visual marker and a point of discovery for locals and visitors alike. It is envisaged that the mural will be completed in time for the 2025 Gather Round, which returns to Adelaide 10-13 April 2025.

With the support and guidance of Guildhouse, this wonderful opportunity is for a South Australian artist/team to paint a highly visible mural (viewable to south bound traffic, those navigating through Chapel Street and pedestrians) on a rendered wall measuring approximately 6m high x 5m wide. The artist/team will be selected via a best practice Expression of Interest commissioning process. Guildhouse encourages artists at all career levels to apply – we encourage less experienced artists to put a small team together if they require the guidance of a more experienced mural artist.

Three artists/teams from the Expression of Interest submissions will be shortlisted and invited to create a paid Concept Design of $1,500 per artist/team.

The total Commissioning budget for this public artwork is $15,500.

For the full commissioning requirements and details including site images, wall specifications and a project timeline, please refer to the Artist Brief via the button below.

Concept Designs are not required when responding to this Expression of Interest. Guildhouse aims to make the application as accessible as possible and encourages artists at all career levels to apply.

Guildhouse is inviting South Australian visual artists or artist groups to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) as per the following guidelines:
