It’s Alive: investigating the not-so-still life of objects

Carolyn Corletto’s sculptural work harnesses the everyday object, which have been freed from their original purpose, yet still far from the end of their stories. In the transformative process Corletto rescues the found domestic objects through the language of repair – in responding to their rich history and relationships with previous owners.

The discarded objects of work, created from harsh materials of aluminium, wood and plastic, transform through drawing on the energy and fluency found in all of our things. The collection of work, which focuses not only on itself as a visual or sculptural piece, but too the act of engagement with the viewer, acts as a means to link the mind and visual imagery through the mode of symbolism and metaphor.
