Kath Inglis: of uncertain value
Guildhouse and the Botanic Gardens and the State Herbarium are delighted to present Of uncertain value, by South Australian artist Kath Inglis. Please join us and the artist for the exhibition opening at the Santos Museum of Economic Botany, Adelaide Botanic Gardens on Sunday July 14 at 3pm, with opening address by renowned established artist Catherine Truman.
PVC has been the dominant material used by Adelaide-based contemporary jeweller Kath Inglis for over 15 years. She has developed and mastered techniques that elevate the material, creating jewel-like works from this widely-produce plastic.
In 2019 Kath will investigate the Botanic Gardens of South Australia’s Marine Algae Collection. Through the lens of ‘values”, Kath will examine the Marine Algae Collection within the context of the broader holdings of the Botanic Gardens of South Australia while also considering the impact of plastic waste on marine health.
of uncertain value will be on show from July 14 – September 29 at the Museum of Economic Botany.

The opportunity to undertake independent research at the State Herbarium and at the Museum of Economic Botany will be a rich experience for my contemporary craft practice. I can’t wait to get in there, explore and see how this experience will shape the future of my work.
