Water and Stone, 2024
Black Hill Norite (black granite) with bronze
140 x 75 x 75 cm
Commissioned by Burnside Village
Created from South Australian Black Hill granite, Silvio Apponyi’s Water and Stone establishes a visual and material connection to his previous Burnside Village commissions. From the granite foundation, a polished wavelike form emerges alongside bronze geckos, waiting to be discovered by visitors. Drawing inspiration from the intricate fluidity of nudibranchs, their form is reflected in the sculpture’s sense of movement and rhythm.
